Students of the Workshop School of the ALDE Apeadero have begun the task of improving the garden of the Plaza de la Merced, also known as Plaza del Lago, in the historic city center.
Based on the original design of the garden, the idea is to value the place and recover the use of the square as a meeting point, which is also a historic garden area.
Councilman Employment, Diego Ortega, the director of the ADLE, Francisco Garcia Valenzuela and the Director of the Workshop School, Encarna Alcaraz, visited this morning the group of gardeners working school workshop in the square, in a project in collaboration with the department of Parks and Gardens of the City of Cartagena, under the Department of Infrastructure.
Forty-three young people between 18 and 24 years are part of the Apeadero consisting of four workshops: building, installation, carpentry and gardening, training students in theory and in practice, as explained by the Councillor for Employment.
In the first phase of their training have worked in the quarries youth hostel, where facilities are located in the Workshop School, and in this second phase have gone to work in urban areas throughout the city, which is very motivating for them and that is what they will face in the real work embodies Alcaraz explains.
A group of eight gardening workshop students have started this work with great enthusiasm, as in the case of Hasna, 22, a native of Morocco and based in Cartagena who recognizes that is a great opportunity to train as a gardener. I had never worked use it as a gardener and is very good.

REHABILITATION PROJECT "OF THE PLAZA
The work in progress It is found covered by the rehabilitation project of the square that include the adequacy of internal beds to maintain their original form, as well as visual references for the plaza, removing the vegetation that hinders visibility and improving substrates for new plantations s, among other arrangements.
Plants are also used previous projects and old landscaping and beautification techniques with other existing control over irrigation.
The project also includes removal of sprues and restoration of lamps and lighting.
In addition to this action in the Plaza del Lago, the workshop students will work later in the rehabilitation of the stopping place of the old railway line from Pearl District.
