A dozen prominent economists and academics will participate from next November 10 in the "Forum for the Economy and Society" that the Faculty of Business Science from the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT) has been launched.
The Forum was created with the intention of being "a meeting of citizens, businessmen, politicians and academics, which will be available this framework to discuss current issues and seek solutions to the economic situation", says Dean of the Faculty of Sciences of the Company, Antonio Duréndez.
The academic manager said that the Forum will be highly participatory in nature: "We want anyone with concerns can bring his ideas or questions to the experts to participate in conferences."
Thus, the Faculty of Sciences of the Company has set up a mailing address redes.sociales @ fce.upct.es and open its channels on social networks, twitter: @ fce_upct and facebook, so that citizens can pose questions to the guests Forum, a week before each lecture.
These issues will be raised to the speakers and will be exposed in a web page.
The Forum will invite economic and political responsibility in the region to also participate actively with the questions they deem appropriate.
The Forum will debut with the presence of the Professor of Ethics and Political Philosophy at the University of Valencia Adela Cortina, director of the Foundation for Ethics and Business Organizations (ÉTNOR), the first woman to be awarded an honorary doctorate in UPCT shortly.
Adela Cortina, who taught at the institute Jiménez de la Espada of Cartagena in the beginning as a teacher in the seventies, has among other awards and distinctions, the International Essay Prize Jovellanos.
The professor opened the Forum on Economy and Society with a talk on "The goal of the economics and business: building a good society."
The global economic outlook, problems and future prospects in the European Union, the sovereign debt crisis, changing the production model of the Spanish economy and the role of Cartagena in the future of the regional economy are some of the topics discussed in this forum.
"We want to be ambitious as our responsibility as Faculty of the company we are is to provide our knowledge to the society at a time when it is more necessary than ever to find valid solutions to the economic crisis," says the dean Antonio Duréndez.
The first conference was held in the Auditorium of the Faculty of Business Science (Old CIM) next Thursday, November 10, from 19.00.
