The Roman Theatre Museum welcomes Cartagena on Thursday 20 and Friday 21 October the Scientific Congress "Space and function in Roman public areas: the singular elements", organized by the University of Murcia, Universitat Rovira i Virgili of Tarragona Archaeological Institute of Mérida (CSIC).
Twenty-known experts in archeology and Roman architecture, discuss the type and functionality of public buildings of the Roman cities of Spain are characterized by their uniqueness and exceptionality and retain today integrated into the city.
The meeting was attended by archaeologists Jose Miguel Noguera and Maria Jose Madrid Celdrán Balance, in charge of excavations at the hill of the windlass, which present the results of these excavations between 2008 and 2009 promoted by the Consortium Cartagena Port of Cultures.
In particular, his presentation will focus on the latest interpretation of the whole hypothesis of thermal and portico ('fore') of the insula I called the apple of more than 2000 square meters located at the bottom of the hill.
The conference will focus primarily on the analysis of architectural elements such as altars, arches, aediculae, sacred areas, porches, Chalkidiki, fonts, scholae, etc..

According to organizers, the goal is therefore to analyze the importance of these elements in the Roman cities of Spain, and how they were located in large urban public spaces.
