The Governing Board of the City of Cartagena has this morning approved the convening of the fifteenth edition of Classical Music Competition between strings and brass, aimed at young talents in the Region of Murcia, organized every year by the Department of Youth and Conservatory Music of Cartagena.
The registration deadline for the contest will be open until January 18, 2012.
Between 2011-2012 strings and brass back another year with the aim of boosting the career of our young performers, the only competition of its kind to be conducted in the region.
At present the competition between strings and brass has become a contest of reference, especially valued by recipients, young musicians, and various conservatories and music schools, the only contest of performers at the regional level, where they accommodate most of the instruments of the orchestra in seven modes.
It is multidisciplinary and regional character that defines this competition already established and recognized in the Region of Murcia.
The categories covered in this Contest are:
PIANOCUERDA (violin, viola, cello, bass) Guitar Woodwinds (flute, clarinet, saxophone, oboe, bassoon) Brass (trombone, trumpet, horn, tuba), Percussion "NCANTO
Contest may be submitted to the students who are studying Professional Music Training in any of the categories above, born or who can prove their residence in the region of Murcia, as well as students who are studying music at one of the specialties called at any Musical Studies Centre or Conservatory of the Region.
Contest Auditions will be held in the Auditorium of the Conservatory of Music in Cartagena, during the months of March and April, with free entry to fill seats.
As for the awards, will share a total of 7,700 euros, establishing a first prize in each of the modes of 750 euros and a second prize of 350 euros.
The contest is completed with a series of concerts starting in November where the winners will participate in last year accompanied by the Cartagena Chamber Orchestra in May and ends with a Closing Ceremony and Awards Contest Between Strings and Metals.
