About eighty women working in rural areas in the Region of Murcia yesterday held Oct. 6 in the deputation of Pozo Estrecho, the "Day of opportunities for rural women in the Region of Murcia: Local Production and Food Marketing."
Women's Councillor of the City of Cartagena, Clara Hall, participated in this conference organized by the Confederation of Rural Women of the World (CERES), Association for the Integral Development of Rural Women "Water and Earth" from the Region of Murcia, and Women's Rhea COAG Murcia, with the participation of a new women's associations such as Los Alcazares, The Albujón, Fuente à lamo, Puerto de Santa Bárbara, La Aljorra, Tallante or La Puebla.
From ten in the morning, gathered at the Civic Centre in Pozo Estrecho to discuss the status of rural and agricultural sector.
The main objective, as indicated by the Councillor for Women, Clara Hall, was the promotion of equal opportunities, promoting new initiatives work, knowledge of available resources, promoting participation and partnership of women in rural and, especially, the promotion of rural women in the region and field of Cartagena.
The presentations were also involved Maria Jose Soria, technical manager of the Association Land and Water CERES in the Region, J OSE Angel Navarro, head of technical services COAG Murcia, and Mariano Garcia Perez, director of administration of social security Cartagena.
In the various presentations he spoke about the new marketing channels and distribution of food products, which enable to sell and promote products with fair prices for everyone.
It also exposed the resources currently available for rural areas, as established by the Rural Development Programme in the Region of Murcia 2007-2013, and addressed other issues including the incorporation of REASS the General Regime of Social Security and the new Act Shared ownership in farms, recently approved and published in the Official Gazette of October 5, dedicating special attention to the typical products of the Campo de Cartagena, traditions and eating habits.
CERES is a confederation of associations of Rural Women in State level, the regional partnership that owns the "Water and Earth."
Both entities are linked to COAG and work from its inception for equal opportunities for women in rural areas.
