Under the title North and South, the Association for Community integration of mentally ill people of Cartagena and Shire, PICES, shows a sample of the work of painting and ceramics developed during this year from the Association.
Social Care Councillor, Antonio Calderón, accompanied by the vice president of A PICES, Leonor Martinez Conesa, and the Director of the UNED, Juan Antonio Moreno Cavas, inaugurated this morning the exhibition which will run from today until next October 19 in the halls of the headquarters of the Open University in Cartagena.
The works of North and South, are creations of people with chronic mental illness of the Association, held in art therapy workshop where they can, through artistic expression, to channel their emotions and learn to control them.
The exhibition is held in the key of Conceptual Art and aims to make the viewer reflect on the duality North and South, and the confrontation between wealth and poverty or health and disease.
This event also coincides with the planned activities for World Day of Mental Health, the 10th of October, and the twentieth anniversary of the establishment of PICES Ã, association for the rights of people with disease mental, in order to improve their quality of life.
North and South exposure can be visited from 6 to 19 October in the halls of the UNED in center's regular schedule, Monday to Friday from 9.30 to 14.00 hours and from 17 to 20 hours (from October 17, hours are extended until 22 hours of the night).
