Transplantation of the ficus avoid possible accidents in the Avenida de America (05/10/2011)

Transplantation of the ficus in the Avenida de America to the north of Mandarache has been crucial to prevent possible accidents caused by the fall of these ancient trees, as explained by the Town Planning, Joaquín Segado, in response to a motion filed by United Left group in the regular full held this morning at the Palace Hall.

Technical reports, explained Segado have revealed that the trees possessed a very small root, which weakened its structure, making them more unstable and sensitive to environmental conditions, so that the transplant was necessary and has been very beneficial to avoid mishaps.

It is recalled that in the month of January last year, falling prudujo two ficus on Avenida America due to strong gusts of wind.

In the forty specimens, which were pruned and taken early in September, have already begun to sprout stems since they are in their new location on the extension of the Pearl District Greenway, north of the Mall Mandarache.

During the regular full, the Town Planning has also been referred to the archaeological survey carried out in the area of the Avenue, responding to a mixed group motion requesting the hiring of an independent archaeologist for this task.

Mowing has not argued the urgency of this proposal and has defended the professionalism and honesty of the archaeologists working inthe field.

Finally, we have conducted 45 polls and have extracted a total of 135 boxes of samples to be analyzed in the Archaeological Museum.

The result of this study will determine if there are Roman remains in the basement of the avenue and its surroundings.
