The regional government has shown interest in the restoration of normalcy in the Cartagena-based National University of Distance Education (UNED), a statewide public university directly under the Ministry of Education.
Given the interest means having a center of these features to facilitate access to distance higher education to the citizens of the Region of Murcia, the autonomous community volunteer provides a subsidy of 300,000 euros per year.
The grant for 2010 was paid on May 17 of that year, and the 2011 is in the treasury of the Autonomous Community, to be committed payment, which will join other voluntary contributions made by other institutions in the regional, as the municipalities of Cartagena, Lorca, Caravaca and Yecla, Caja de Ahorros de Murcia Caja Mediterráneo.
In this respect, the Governing Board of the Consortium for the associate regional center in Cartagena UNED recently approved to authorize the director of the center to adopt a series of measures to ensure a balanced budget this institution in 2012, which should be carried out gradually and progressively, depending on economic needs.
First was passed authorizing a reduction in current spending, telephone bills, electricity and gas, followed by a Deduction or delete items as ceremonial care, diet and locomotion, and the analysis and reduction, if any, schedule of Centre in order to concentrate on the fringes of time it is used by students to save costs, as well as the review of outsourcing as the security service.
As a last resort, the Governing Board of the Consortium considered that it might come to appreciate the introduction of reduced working hours in those contracts that are deemed necessary, the abolition of the posts occupied by temporary or reduction of other jobs.
