The mayor of Cartagena, Pilar Barreiro, has been visited by the Commander of the Force Protection of Navy, Luis Melendez Pasquini, coming to Cartagena from Madrid base to direct the new facility is the headquarters of Force protection to be transferred to The Algameca.
Pasquini Melendez, a native of Ferrol, was appointed in July 2010 and became the highest ranking infantryman Naval Base of Cartagena.

Force Protection is one of the three pillars of the Marine Corps, and dedicated to the protection of naval bases of the Navy and it depends on the safety of personnel and facilities, Melendez explained Pasquin.
Cartagena is one of the three thirds that make up the Levant, while the third is located in Ferrol North and South in Cádiz, in addition to the groupings of Madrid and the Canaries.
