The City of Cartagena, through its Institute for Coastal Municipal Services (IMSEL) has funded the implementation of the proposed Red Cross to facilitate the bathing beaches for people with disabilities.
Two points adapted toilet are installed on the beaches Loma del Castillo (Camping Caravaning La Manga) and Playa La Gola (Hotel Cavanna, La Manga).
These modules began operating last July 1 and will do so until 31 August, in time from 11.00 to 19.00 hours.
The presentation of this project to the media will be Thursday, July 21, at 12.00 pm in Loma del Castillo Beach, located in Camping Caravaning La Manga.
There will be a demonstration of how this service.
The presentation was attended by the Councillor for Social Welfare of the City of Cartagena, Antonio Calderon, Director General of the Coast, Gabriel Ruiz, president-delegate of the Red Cross in Cartagena, Rosa Navarro and the Director of Youth Red Cross, Antonio Paredes.
The assisted bathing is done by means of amphibious chairs, crutches, floats, life jackets.
To carry out this action daily work a total of 25 Red Cross volunteers, and they collaborate 'Caravaning La Manga' and 'Hotel Cavanna' donating to the Red Cross meals.
More than 250 people have already benefited from the services provided by these modules.
At the same time, these points of assisted bathing are conducted awareness campaigns to inform bathers of the health care environment and to prevent risks at beaches.
The campaign carries the theme "Love yourself this summer a lot 'and about all those leaflets in different languages, posters, ashtrays and even the beach to prevent the dumping and abandonment of cigarette butts.
It also informs the swimmers of the safety on beaches and drivers of the Red Cross campaigns for traffic during the operations of departure and return this summer.
