From today, a new blue flag flies over the coast of Cartagena.
Which has received the Path of the 10,000 steps, which runs 7500 meters between Cabo de Palos and La Manga, Cartagena and makes one of only twelve towns in Spain that has achieved this recognition for a job well done.
This has been acknowledged this morning by the Mayor, Pilar Barreiro, during the symbolic hoisting of the flag has been installed in the forecourt of the lighthouse at Cabo de Palos.
The mayor has been accompanied by the council of Infrastructure and Tourism, Francisco Espejo and Palazón Carolina, and the general coordinator and Coastal Infrastructure, Gabriel Ruiz.
The mark has been granted by the European Federation of Environmental Education has been introduced for the first time this year the recognition "Hiking the Blue Flag," with which to establish a network of trails to promote awareness of coastal environment, sustainable tourism, and leisure opportunities in the coastal environment, and reward the efforts of local authorities in these matters.

The course can be completed in 1 hour and 45 minutes, with starting point in the plaza of the mall Entremares La Manga, following the Gran Vía de La Manga to Cabo de Palos where more than twenty points bordering the coast, up to the lighthouse, through the Paseo del Puerto and returning to the starting point in La Manga.

Barreiro also recalled that Cartagena continues to lead the ranking of beaches awarded the "Q" for quality, eleven in total, and six with blue flag.
The challenge now is to work to continue offering the best services and quality beaches as the sun and beach tourism is one of the greatest assets of Cartagena.
As you may recall the town of Cartagena has won half of the 12 blue flags awarded by the foundation in the Region of Murcia, with its six flags over the village, which has won awards, ahead of Guile and distinguished beaches Mazarrón.Las have been the Levante-Cabo de Palos Cala Cortina, Cala del Pino, Playa Honda San Gines La Azohia.
These distinctions has joined this year's special award blue path.
Since last summer was a special service award also rescue and surveillance beaches.
In addition to the six blue flags, Cartagena has this year with 11 quality Q provided by Tourism Quality Institute of Spain, for palay San Gines La Azohía, Cala Cortina, Minor Islands, Playa Honda, Mar de Cristal, Cala del Pino, Cavanna Beach, Playa del Barco Perdido, Galúa Beach, Playa de Levante and Playa de la Gola.
