The Mayor, Pilar Barreiro, today reported to the Local Government of the writings referred this morning to the Minister, José Blanco, vice president of the European Commission and Transport Commissioner Siim Kallal, claiming maintenance Spanish Mediterranean Corridor that should unite Algeciras Valencia through the Region of Murcia and the east coast of Andalusia, the plans of the Central Trans-European Network.
The letters have been sent as a result of media reports and news arrivals through the association FERRMED who agree that the Commission has excluded from the Mediterranean Corridor project.

Barreiro also argues that the exclusion of the Levantine ports, including Cartagena, would mean the renunciation of all the opportunities that the network for our region, the marginalization of this large area and a clear socioeconomic unfairness with countries such as Italy, that if we have a rail network that interconnects all of its southern ports.

In another development, the Local Government Board has approved, among the various business purposes of its agenda, records for the award of five local social canteens.
