An suv reinforces the watchdog of beaches this summer (27/06/2011)

Councillor for Citizen Security, Mariano Garcia and Director General of Security, Carlos Nieto, this morning presented the special device monitoring at beaches 2011 the City of Cartagena.

The main novelty this summer is the addition of a vehicle fully equipped for rapid intervention and off-road, coming to beaches inaccessible to ambulances, as is the case Calblanque.

As the number of effective civil protection remains the same as last summer, 70 people working daily on the coast, of which 35 are professionals hired and thirty volunteers.

Health staff is reinforced with five nurses working in three ambulances available in the new rapid response vehicle.

In total, 23 positions are maintained existing rescue on the coast of Cartagena.

As in previous years, the opening is done in stages: Eighteen posts and running since last June 15, and the remaining five will enter service on July 1 with all staff working within two months of summer plants.

The eight most important positions for bathers are the Galúa, Sirens, Zeus, Entremares, Cabo de Palos, Islas Menores, Levante, Mar de Cristal and San Ginés.

These services are open until eight o'clock.

FINES up to 1,500 euros

Just this weekend, the services have begun working at full capacity.

On Saturday, hoisted flags in yellow and red parts of La Manga and El Entremares (Lost Ship) and Playa de Levante, where there were three fines of up to 1,500 euros to swimmers who did not respect the rules.

Therefore, the new surveillance operation of beaches have a special collaboration with the local police.

If red flag to warn swimmers that swimming is prohibited, and if you do not meet standards are sanctioned, assured the council.

8000 SUMMER ONES PAST INTERVENTION

Mariano Garcia also recalled the importance of this support service on the coast of Cartagena, moreover, is one of only three Civil Protection Services of Spain Awarded the "Q" Quality.

The quick response was one of the strengths of this service last summer, as highlighted by the Director General of Security, which last year recorded 8000 interventions of which 200 were rescuing people, with eight deaths and only a person for immersion syndrome.
