The general director for the Promotion of Culture and the Book, Francisco Giménez, today along with the mayor of Cartagena, Pilar Barreiro, the final programming and news of the XVII Festival La Mar de Músicas, held from 8 to July 23 , and this year's edition focuses primarily on music and Italian culture, with 40 groups, six exhibitions, 11 films, 12 writers and over 60,000 spectators expected.
The main novelty of this edition is exclusive, as more than half of the schedule, scores of concerts, will premiere in Spain, and almost 40 percent will be at La Mar de Músicas.
Ojos de Brujo, Julieta Venegas, Russian Red, Omara Portuondo and Chucho Valdes, Gino Paoli, Cyndi Lauper and Stewart Copeland, drummer of The Police, are the figures that will be music on five stages of Cartagena: Park Towers, the Artillery Park The Moorish castle and the Plaza del Ayuntamiento.
Another novelty will be borne by the guest artists that accompany Ojos de Brujo on 23 July.
The already confirmed are Peret, Miguel Campello (singer of The Bug) and Roldan de Orishas.
They also confirmed that the concert scheduled for Sierra Leone's Refugee All Stars will be replaced by Antonia Font Majorcan group due to the cancellation of his European tour.
