The Association of Families and Women of the Rural Region of Murcia (AFAMMER) opened its regional headquarters yesterday afternoon in the Provincial Cartagena de La Palma, in a ceremony in the plenary hall of the City Neighborhood Council, with the assistance of Acting general director of the Prevention of Gender Violence and Juvenile Reform, Teresa Moreno, the mayor of Torre Pacheco, Daniel García, and Council of the City of Cartagena, Nicholas Angel Bernal, Decentralization and Health, Clara Hall, Women's , and the District Camarzana Isaiah, along with the president of the association at the regional level, Carmen English.

The event began with a lecture by Alfonso Ortuño painter and caricaturist, who spoke of something Velázquez.

The president noted that Murcia AFAMMER headquarters, donated by the city of Cartagena, provide services to rural women in the region of Murcia, with a multidisciplinary focus, covering all their needs, advising and supporting groups and also women's associations and others, facilitating their participation on equal opportunities and conditions.

AFAMMER Iglesias also said it has set a goal for this year to reach the most disadvantaged, and women at risk of social exclusion, women victims of domestic violence and immigrant women.

AFAMMER born in Aragon in 1989 as an association for the promotion, improvement and protection of livelihoods, both economic and social and cultural development of rural women and families.

At the same time claiming the role of women in rural development, promoting their education and facilitating their incorporation into the labor market through various initiatives.

The association has managed to have a presence in nearly 300 villages in the autonomous region of Aragon, with over 200 delegates and 150 local boards responsible for the work of the association in their own towns and counties.

Sustaining the partnership comes from the share of nearly 11,000 associates and the contributions of public and private entities depending on the program to be developed.

During these years of experience, has not only achieved AFAMMER be a pioneering NGO in defense of rural women in Spain but also internationally.
