The Naval and Oceanic Engineering UPCT Francisco Iturbe received today by the delegation in Cartagena of the Association of Naval Architects and Ocean the prize for best student of the year.
Francisco Iturbe is currently Project Director of Naval Propulsion and Generation on Board of the German company MTU, one of the most powerful worldwide in this industry.
The German company signed to this graduate of the UPCT after carry out the project in MTU limit, thanks to a cooperation agreement it has with the Polytechnic University of Cartagena.
Iturbe ensures that the training given at the Naval School is very good: "When you compare it with that of other British and German colleagues I work with now you realize that we have nothing to envy. If I had to Back to choose a university would choose the Polytechnic.
Regarding your work experience adds: "Working abroad, with another culture and language, is also a very fruitful experience, both from the standpoint of personal and professional."
It also stresses that are highly rated Spanish engineers in Germany: "It is true that the Germans have a lot of fame and invest heavily in research and development programs. You can have the impression that German engineers are very good about the Spanish but this is not true. In Germany fewer students here, but they do what they study and is further from the job training when they become really good professionals. "
For its part, the director of the School of Naval and Ocean Engineering, Domingo Garcia Lopez, stresses the importance of having examples as representing Francisco Iturbe, as it serves to students who are studying are motivated and see that with work, dedication and effort can have good job prospects, despite the current economic situation is not ideal.
Before the award ceremony, the graduate of the UPCT has acted within the auditorium of the School of Naval a conference entitled "Naval propulsion plant selection."
