The IES Politécnico de Cartagena is the last week of May at Lausitz (Germany), to participate in a new edition of the Shell Eco-Marathon, the most important test in the world of vehicles powered by alternative fuels, for which this year have registered a total of 225 teams from colleges and universities around the world.
The Cartagena electric vehicle will compete with Hasdrubal, the second version of the original, Politecnic powered by solar energy, which finished fourth in its category in the Solar Race in the Region of Murcia.
The Hasdrubal, three-wheeled vehicle that has electric motor 750w, 48v lithium battery and has a top speed of 45 km / h, will compete in a new category called Plug-in, rechargeable car through a normal plug.
Polytechnic students and teachers have spent seven months working for the implementation of this prototype.
A PROJECT IN THE EFFICIENCY AND THE ENVIRONMENT
The Cartagena Polytechnic IES launched last year and half the project Efficient Vehicles, which has a collaboration agreement with solar energy multinational Eurener and intended to convey the importance of proper use of vehicles, transportation alternative, sharing vehicles and damage to the environment of fossil fuels.
Likewise, in the framework of this project is currently participating in the program MAPLE Ministry of Education in establishing linkages with various institutions in other regions with similar projects.
In early 2011, the project was awarded the Energy Region of Murcia in the category of energy efficiency in its seventh edition, awards organized by the Regional Agency for Energy Management (ARGEM).
