Staff from the Fire Department of Cartagena, in collaboration with the company Rafaela Nortes Belmonte, held on the afternoon of Thursday intervention with truck crane for the removal of gull nests of the Town Hall and adjacent buildings, action that is included in the annual campaign to control the seagull population conducted by the City Council through the Department of Health between April and June.
During this procedure we proceeded to the removal of a nest with three eggs at the Palace Hall and another nest with three chicks in a building under renovation located in the rear of the Hotel NH.
In addition, it also reviewed other areas of difficult access and in previous years have welcomed nests, like the old Plaza de Toros or the Military Arsenal.
According to company sources responsible for the control campaign, this year has seen a decline in the seagull population due to the promptness in conducting the campaign and the cooperation of citizens.
The City continues to encourage this collaboration to prevent the gulls can become a plague in the city.
