Fire Department staff and volunteers of Civil Protection of the City of Cartagena Lorca moved yesterday afternoon to assist with rescue and care for victims of the earthquake.
The march of troops came after the second replica of the quake, the most intense, as reported by the Director General of Security, Carlos Nieto.
Firefighters Park left 14 people in two pickup trucks with relief material in landslides.
Also moved a command vehicle and a pumper truck with a trailer with electric generators and lighting equipment.
The troops were concentrated in Cartagena Lorca Park and gave respite during the night two of the five groups who were patrolling the city to rescue victims.
A task completed on four o'clock, they returned to Cartagena.
Civil Protection for their part of the City of Cartagena sent 14 volunteers, with three light vehicles, an ambulance and a van carrying the dogs from the Canine Unit, which specializes in locating victims buried under rubble.
Were also carried 350 blankets, 400 frozen snacks and 500 liters of bottled water for distribution to those affected by the earthquake.
Civil Defense troops remained this morning in Lorca, and especially the canine unit that is helping to locate missing persons, pending its replacement by other dog units in the rest of Spain.
