Last night they celebrated the end of the competition expected between strings and brass where the winners received their well deserved award at a ceremony held at the Auditorium of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena and was attended by the Mayor, Pilar Barreiro, director of the Conservatory Professional Music Cartagena, M ª Angeles Bres García, the Councillor for Youth, Ruth María Collado, the Inspector of Education of the Ministry of Education, Training and Employment, M ª Carmen Juárez, and the Chief Inspector of the same Ministry, Jerome Nicholas .

The opening ceremony began with the interpretation of the solo viola José García Benítez, along with the Chamber Orchestra of Cartagena, then move to sediment awards which made public the decision of the jury in all forms, the first award in each of 750 euros and the second prizes of 350 euros.

The Orchestra of the Conservatory of Music in Cartagena was in charge of closing the event, putting the finishing touch to the fourteenth edition of this contest, in which more people have participated since the existence of competition between strings and brass and in which jurors have agreed on a positive value to all participants, with the level, in general, very high.

The main goal that has defined this event has been training young musicians not only through their participation in the competition but also giving the winner the opportunity to perform a concert with a professional orchestra, which contributes to its formation as musicians.
