The artist Matthew Charris à ngel restates in his home town to present his latest work, under the name of Canton.
The exhibition will open on May 2 to 20 hours in the exhibition hall of the Palacio Municipal Molina (street Jara), then scroll to the Gallery Bambara (Calle del Aire).
Both rooms will be open until 15 June: in Bambara, from Tuesday to Friday from 18 to 20.30 and Friday to Saturday from 11 to 13.30 hours, and the Palacio Molina, Tuesday through Saturday , from 10.30 to 13.30 and from 17 to 20.30.
Canton is a Charris edition consists of nine original prints and a plate in a box, Bambara published by the gallery in an edition of one hundred copies.
The title alludes to the nineteenth-century revolutionary movement in Cartagena as China town of the same name, now Guangzhou, in a game of distorting mirrors between history, imagination, two worlds, and several times.
Plates, the prints and the texts included in the edition used for basting, just suggest one possible reading of this collection of images taken between 2010 and 2011.
The Asian and European, old and new, time and transience, are at the origin of this series that reflects on how little stories intersect with the great moments of humanity, and how the artist, odds-on appearances, can not see two images without trying to decode the invisible threads that bind.
