The Association of Friends of San Juan, ADAS, in collaboration with the City of Cartagena, on the morning of Holy Thursday, April 21
Tribute to the traditional absentee Cartageneros in a ceremony held in the main lobby of the Town Hall.
The interventions shift the twenty-eighth edition of this tribute, which opened the Mayor, Pilar Barreiro, responsible for welcoming the attendees and Cartagena living out the rest of the year and returned to the city on the occasion of processions .
Then, the coordinator of the association Jeannine Sanchez Alcaraz, was in charge of presenting the interventions to honor absent Cartagena, led this time by Eduardo Zaplana Hernández-Soro, former President of the Generalitat Valenciana and former Minister of Labour, and current advisor Officer of Telefónica.
Eduardo Zaplana recalled in his speech, moments of his childhood closely linked to Easter and around the city as Mayor Street, Plaza del Rey or the Yacht Club.
Zaplana left Cartagena when he was fifteen years old, but has since returned on numerous occasions, even a preacher of the Holy Week of Cartagena in 1997.
Then the ceremony continued with speeches from the Laura Peña Vera, who read some verses of the poem "Romance of an exile without sea" and Soler Alberto Soto, who did the same with the poem "Ode to the roe."
Finally, distinctions were held honorary member, the president of ADAS and Cartagenero of the Year 2010, Fabián Martínez Juárez and the processions of the Year 2011, Eduardo Vilar.
