A total of twenty elderly and disabled participants on Wednesday 13 April in the traditional pastry workshop organized by the Municipal Social Services City of Cartagena in the Day Care Centre for the Elderly in El Algar.
Equipped with apron, chef's hat and roller in hand, the major began from early morning to prepare a selection of sweets such date as the traditional Easter cakes.
The activity, which is part of the workshops free time for the Elderly, was used to verify that the cuisine is no secret to those who have lived more than half a century creating and preserving old recipes handed down from generation to generation n.
The Pastry Shop also allows for a physical and mental exercise, while conducive to coexistence among the elderly, they bring important knowledge and experience to restore and maintain cooking traditions that are lost over time.
Workshop facilities are located in the Day Care Center Escámez Alfonso Senior, a center that provides daytime care and comprehensive care for older people who need it, while maintaining the functional abilities of the individual, family support and creating a alternative to residential accommodation.
The facilities are of a social health center and family support offered during the day care for basic personal needs, therapeutic and socio-cultural older people affected by different degrees of dependence, promoting their independence and remain in their usual environment.
