The City of Cartagena, aware that social networks are key to new ways of interacting with citizens to make public administration more simple, participatory and transparent, opted in January 2010 to be present in them.
In little more than a year has grown to over 10,000 supporters on Facebook, placing the City of Cartagena as one of the highest participation has on the network.
Through this network informs the public of current municipal, cultural activities, sports and music taking place in the city as well as specific information from the various municipal services and portals.
Users in turn provide information they consider relevant to the community and leave their comments and opinions thus establishing a new channel of communication with the council.
For other social networks, has 1,000 followers on Twitter, have risen about 500 images on Flickr and Panoramio and is close to 50 videos on Youtube and Vimeo.
In recent addition is the presence in LinkedIn, a professional social network that aims to continuously inform employers and job seekers of today's business news in the city and offer a network of professional contacts.
