The Minister of Culture and Tourism, Pedro Alberto Cruz, received today the President of the 'Commission Beltrí 2012', Juan Ignacio Fernandez, and members of the board.
After their meeting, Cruz said the "relevant heritage of modernism in Cartagena, and in particular, the architect Victor Beltrí, which has plenty of work in the old town of Cartagena, to which we must add the municipality of La Union, has one of the most emblematic buildings of Victor Beltrí, as is the Public Market.
In this regard, the minister of Culture stated that "we have a very small region at the confluence of many elements that can enable us to make the modernism of Cartagena and its surroundings in one of the attractions of the region."
He also recalled that the city of Cartagena has had two moments of brilliance throughout its history: Rome and Modernism.
On the first, has become an important asset recovery efforts, and today Cartagena is one of the main cultural sites and tourism at the Mediterranean, now is the time to bet on the spread of modernist heritage of the city and the region, "said Cruz.
The committee has been constituted in order to disseminate and promote knowledge of Modernism in the Region of Murcia and architect Victor Beltrí of which will be fulfilled in 2012, 150 years after his birth.
