The organizers of the Cross IX of Artillery, Councilman of Sports City of Cartagena, Alonso Gómez López, and Colonel Chief Antiaircraft Artillery Regiment 73, Patricio Togores have delivered the check to the collection of evidence to the President Local Board of the Association to Fight Cancer in Cartagena, María Rosa Rosillo.
For the third consecutive year, the event manages to raise a large amount of funds this year due to more entries were accepted, amounts to 2,500 euros, resulting from the donation of 1 euro for every runner who scored the ninth edition of this beneficial sporting event held last November 21, 2010.
In presenting the check solidarity event held at the auditorium of the Museum of Cartagena Artillery, Colonel Chief of Artillery Regiment 73, Patricio Togores, wanted to highlight that the value of donations collected on that day sports festival and family exceeds the amount, it incorporates a lot of affection and appreciation as popular solidarity to fight.
Councillor for Sports, Alonso Gómez has been added to the words of Colonel reiterating support for the Association.
Gomez thanked also the two-year stay in the city of Patricio Togores and delivery and involvement by the charitable initiatives and sports Cartagena.
NEW HEADQUARTERS OF THE ASSOCIATION OF ANTI-CANCER
The 2,500 euros raised in the Ninth Artillery Cross will go to prevention campaigns, psychological support and promote volunteering to fight the disease.
The president of the Association against Cancer has stated that a important part of the money will go towards research and the rest will be used to operate the new headquarters will be in Cartagena Association.
The current headquarters, located in Calle Ramón y Cajal, is now too small, explained Maria Rosa Rosillo, and it was very difficult to accommodate the growing number of people seeking counseling and participate in group therapy.
The new headquarters, expected to be operational by June, will be located in Trafalgar Street and will include rooms for holding workshops and crafts, yoga, or speech therapy, among others.
These workshops are held continuously every week and involve between 15 and 30 people, explained Rosique.
