The Government Delegate to the Region of Murcia, Rafael González Tovar, visited the Enagas regasification plant in Cartagena.
The Director General of Infrastructure and ATR Enagás, Ramón Sánchez Valera, stressed that in the past four years, the company has invested 283 million euros in the Region of Murcia.
During this period, the regasification plant in Cartagena, investment has risen to 178 million euros.
Among the projects carried out at the facility, highlights the launch of two new storage tanks for liquefied natural gas, 150,000 m3 capacity each.
The fourth tank became operational in 2008 and fifth at the end of 2010.
Rafael González Tovar stressed the importance of these investments Enagás have to ensure the storage of liquefied natural gas reserves and thus be able to meet domestic demand and the supply of combined cycle power plants of tailings using LNG as a matter premium.
The delegate of the Government has highlighted the great efforts of Enagás to achieve steady growth since its facilities were installed in tailings, with the subsequent construction of storage tanks and expansion of the regasification plant and the wharf, which currently allows the arrival of large LNG tankers.
Finally, he recalled that along with the development of this plant has occurred in the gas distribution network that has great importance for domestic and industrial consumption.
Currently, the Cartagena regasification plant with a total capacity of 587,000 m3 and an emission capacity of 1,350,000 Nm3 / h.
In addition, it is ready for download from the world's largest LNG carriers of up to 263,000 m3 of capacity, since 2009.
It was the first of the regasification Enagás in order to receive vessels of this size.
With respect to gas pipelines in the region of Murcia, the company has invested 105 million euros since 2007.
This figure includes the construction of the pipeline Almería-Chinchilla, of which 103 km run through the region.
Enagás account on the Region of Murcia with 341 km of pipelines and a transportation hub in Santomera.
