The mayor of Cartagena, Pilar Barreiro, and the Minister of Culture and Tourism, Pedro Alberto Cruz, will open on Friday, March 4, the new indoor sports hall of La Palma, next to Santa Florentina pubic school.
The event will take place at 13 hours with the assistance of the Director General of Sports, Antonio Peñalver, Councillor for Sports, Alonso Gómez López, and other members of the Municipal Corporation, the neighborhood council representatives and associations and local institutions.
The indoor sports hall of La Palma was begun in October 2008 and is intended as more than a facility, since it has been designed to accommodate cultural activities.
The new sports facilities occupy a built area of over 2,000 square meters.
It has a tier of 222 seats, four dressing rooms under the stands, a warehouse and a gym and fitness room annex.
In addition, the central court, about 1,000 square meters, has a motorized curtain to divide it into two classrooms when necessary.
The operating budget has exceeded the 1,600,000 euros, funded from the council, which also has the floor, and the Autonomous Community.
The main users are the students of the school and surrounding instiututo addition to the sporting group Codelpa and other groups and citizens of the deputation.
