The Councillor for Tourism in Murcia yesterday was the act of presenting awards to those who have been awarded a total of 323 companies and public activities in the Region, for their work, effort and involvement in tourism

The Director General of Tourism, Marina Garcia, presided yesterday at the Tourist Center of Competence in Murcia, the distinctive ceremony of Tourist Quality Commitment, which have been recognized 323 companies and public entities in the region, of which 64 are located in Cartagena.

During the ceremony, which was attended by the Councillor for Tourism of the City of Cartagena, Javier Herrero, recognized those companies and public entities that have obtained or renewed in 2010 the distinctive SICTED (Integrated Quality System Spanish Tourist Destination) , among which include interpretive centers, museums, shops, tourist guides, sports companies, taxis, restaurants, hotels, travel agencies and other services related directly or indirectly with the tourism sector.

Thus, this recognition has gone to Cartagena Port of Cultures, Archaeological Museum, Roman Theatre Museum and Civil Protection, as well as hotels, diving clubs, travel agencies, guides and trade.

For its part, the Mar Menor area has also been distinctive for the beaches of Cala del Pino, La Gola, Beach Shack, Playa Honda, Islas Menores, Mar de Cristal and the Galúa, Levante and Cala Cortina Lost Ship .

As noted by the Councillor for Tourism, Javier Herrero, s and is a renewal of commitment to quality that is already being done from the City of Cartagena and positions us to provide better service to the increasing number of visitors who choose to spend in our city.

In addition to Cartagena, in the region there are seven other destinations SICTED in Murcia (with 106 badges), Gilad (2), Lorca (18), Mar Menor (51), Northwest (41), Valle de Ricote (24) and Espuña (17).

This makes Murcia, which has increased their badges for the year 2009, which scored 301 in the fourth community in number of distinguished companies, just below the Principality of Asturias, Catalonia and Galicia.

DISTINCTIVE QUALITY

The Integrated System of Quality Destinations Spanish tourism is a national project, supported by the Ministry of Tourism (SET) and the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP) - which assesses the overall quality and involves throughout the municipality that implanted.

Tourist Quality Commitment is a distinguishing mark of establishments with an optimal level of quality of service they belong to a particular destination and are attached to the project SICTED.

Is obtained after the application of a practical guide and an external evaluation which such entities are subject each year.
