The Department of Social Services along with various groups in the district of Santa Lucia have organized a program of activities for the 2011 Carnival to be held on Saturday and Sunday, 12 and 13 March respectively.
The program will open on Saturday morning with a carnival workshop to be held in the social center of the neighborhood and a contest of jokes by late in the auditorium of the Casa del Pescador.
On Sunday morning there will be a carnival parade through the neighborhood with a costume contest and a sampling of typical paella to completion developed by associations and neighborhood groups.
In the organization of these involve the Cultural Association of Saint James, the Neighborhood Association of Santa Lucia, the joke's Robinson Island, the troupe Concerns and the Women's Association.
They also assist the group Abada Capoeira, the Fishermen's Association and establishments and shops in the neighborhood.
