The Minister of Public Works and the Mayor of Cartagena have laid the first stone of this project of 2.3 million euros to improve the flow of traffic on a road along which more than two million cars a year
The Minister of Public Works and Planning, José Ballesta, and the Mayor of Cartagena, Pilar Barreiro, presided this morning the ceremony of laying the first stone that marks the work of improving access to industrial estate Cabezo Beaza .
Specifically, it will have three roundabouts on the road Torreciega (RM-F35 road that runs between Cartagena and San Javier), two to replace existing T-intersection to access the industrial estate and another roundabout Cabezo Beaza in the road junction town of La Vereda de San Felix.
The project, whose execution time is 10 months, was carried out by the Directorate General of Highways of the Ministry of Public Works and Planning, in collaboration with the City of Cartagena.
Its operating budget is 1.3 million euros.
To this must be added the cost of expropriations by the city of Cartagena, a total of 15,000 square meters to 15 owners at a cost of one million euros.
This project will be enhanced flow of traffic and ensure road safety and reduce accident risk in an area of high traffic density along which more than two million vehicles a year and about 150,000 heavy vehicles , with peaks up to 1,500 vehicles per hour, as indicated by the responsible autonomy.
The Minister of Public Works, José Ballesta, also explained that service roads will be created for industries that exist in the side of the road and has highlighted the support of the City of Cartagena for this work is a reality and that within ten months all the citizens of Cartagena to enjoy a completely renovated road, especially with road safety conditions that do not have to regret any accident.
The project includes the construction of two service roads along the road between the roundabouts at site access, road separated by a median, and the strengthening of the pavement along the 1.8 kilometers of the performance and new drainage system.
It will also strengthen the signal, lighting and existing defenses.
BIKE LANE AND SIDEWALK FROM ILLUMINATED TORRECIEGA
Besides the construction of three roundabouts, you will also have a stretch of bike lane and sidewalk access in the area of greatest pedestrian traffic from Torreciega until the first roundabout access to the polygon.
This access will be fully lit to increase the reliability of the road and encourage travel by foot or bike to the industrial area without the use of private vehicles.
As for cutting the road once the work commences, the Minister of Public Works, José Ballesta, has insisted he will be coordinated with the project management and construction company all the necessary mechanisms to be the least hassle s and asked for understanding of the nearly 9,000 workers who daily come to the estate because the benefits outweigh the inconvenience that may occur during execution.
