The Minister of Public Works and Planning, José Ballesta, together with the mayor of Cartagena, Pilar Barreiro, now put the first stone of the works to improve access to industrial estate Cabezo Beaza the municipality, to be carried out in RM-F35 road that runs between Cartagena and San Javier.
The manager indicated that autonomy "is an action aimed at managing traffic at the entrances to the industrial park in an area of high traffic density along which two million drivers each year and about 150,000 large vehicles tonnage, with peaks up to 1,500 vehicles per hour, thus leading to increased road safety and improved traffic conditions. "
"Likewise, the works will serve to channel the increased traffic caused by the growth of companies and businesses around the road, which will facilitate the socioeconomic development of one of the most important industrial areas in the region", said the adviser .
The work, which has a regional investment of 1.3 billion, involves the construction of three pavilions 58 and 60 feet outside diameter at the entrance to the industrial park and a third round, 48 meters in the crossing that connects the district of San Felix and The Asomada.
José Ballesta said "is a priority of the Directorate General of Highways to replace T-intersections by roundabouts, where the risk of accidents is lower because it is easier to turn, changing direction and speed is reduced ".
The project also includes construction of two service roads along the road between the roundabouts at site access, road separated by a median, and the strengthening of the pavement along the 1.8 km performance and a new drainage system.
It will also strengthen the signal, lighting and existing defenses.
Regarding the section between the district and the polygon Torre Ciega, which becomes the highest pedestrian traffic due to the proximity, will be built sidewalks and bike lanes and placed a lighting system "to promote travel to the area industrial use without private vehicles in suitable conditions of safety and visibility, "the responsibility of Public Works.
