A group of Dutch students who are in Cartagena through an exchange program with IES Las Salinas del Mar Menor, have been received this morning with their counterparts in Cartagena by the Councillor for Youth, Ruth Maria Collado, who has given welcome to the city.
In total, there are 23 Dutch students (14 girls and 9 boys), aged between 14 and 15, and three teachers from the Dutch institute located in Werenfridus Tabor (Hoorn), and will be in Cartagena from 5 to 10 February.
The aim of the exchange is the analysis of healthy lifestyles, nutrition and sport among young people, along with a partnership between the two centers.
All students have conducted an online survey prepared by students on the subject.
The English department, with the help of the IES faculty and collaboration IDEAS Program of the Department of Youth, has been commissioned to design the activities to be undertaken during the week.
Besides performances in the center and with host families visiting team, always accompanied by the students of IES Las Salinas, has a busy schedule.
In Cartagena, as well as the Palace Hall, will know the Teatro Romano, the Interpretation Centre of the History of Cartagena, stroll along the Marina and the historic center.
Also made a visit to Las Salinas and give a boat trip along the Mar Menor.
On the other hand, will visit The Union and Mining Park.
And in Murcia have the opportunity to see the Cathedral, the Museum of the City and the historic center.
After a twinning mail (e-twinning) of several years between the two centers, in 2008 it was decided to exchange students.
Dutch students visited us in February 2008 and the IES Las Salinas did in June.
This course will again return to the exchange due to the importance of the project to be undertaken.
