The Autonomous Community has contributed 139,481 euros to build the new Senior Club of the District of San Ginés, in Cartagena, whose offices have been opened today by the Minister for Social Policy, Women and Migration, Joaquín Bascuñana, accompanied by the mayor Cartagena, Pilar Barreiro, and the managing director of the Instituto Murciano Social Action (IMAS), Isabel Sola.
The project, built on an area of 256 m2, cost 177,269 euros, including local equipment, which has been funded by Cajamurcia and the Municipal Social Services for an amount of 24,316 euros.
This new senior center, situated at the neighborhood Sóller Cartagena, has multi-purpose room, library and courtyard garden, and also provides service to the residents of the Eixample.
Among the objectives of the club, as a meeting place, appears to provide users with educational activities, recreational and cultural events such as workshops for leisure, to improve their quality of life.
Also offer programs for healthy aging, as well as support and technical and legal mediation.
In fact, throughout the year, we organize various cultural trips, gerontogimnasia programs and physical therapy, memory training and medical examinations.
The Senior Club of San Ginés, formed in April 1996, currently has about 300 members, a figure that could double.
