The Coordinator of Organizations of Farmers and Ranchers in the region of Cartagena (COAG) has highlighted the cooperation of local police in Cartagena in the control and monitoring of the field, in a meeting with members of the Public Safety Committee of the PP.
This group has reiterated its concern over the spate of robberies occurring in the country, affecting both crops and vegetables, as well as machinery and tools.
They have also denounced the destruction taking place what causes them significant economic loss.
During the meeting the coordinator of the Commission, Javier Herrero, told representatives at the last COAG 2010, the local police took more than 1,000 hours security surveillance in the field, especially by night, of which 500 hours were conducted in the last quarter, in an attempt to control the thefts that occur in the area.
In this sense, Smith said the willing cooperation of the municipal government to alleviate this situation, but public safety is not a competition of City Hall.
Smith showed that the involvement of the City safety in the field has been possible thanks to the 50 local police officers, for public safety crews, thanks to an agreement signed with the Autonomous Community of Murcia .
In addition, Smith said the local police have intensified checks at local markets and stalls, to intercept those agricultural and livestock products have been removed.
