The Rescue Coordination Centre (SCC) in Cartagena, the Ministry of Development, coordinated the rescue, assistance, or search for the 87 534 people in maritime activities attended in 2010.
This CCS responded to 71 emergencies Salvage, 7 with maritime safety and other complementary services and 9 with the protection of the marine environment.
The total involved amounted to 90 vessels, of which 39 were for emergencies related to pleasure craft, merchant vessels and 9 to 4 to fishing.
The remaining 38 cases were related to other ships or floating structures.
Projects in Spain
Salvage has 21 Rescue Coordination Centers across the Spanish coast covering the area of maritime salvage the International Maritime Organization has assigned to Spain.
Salvage the sea surface in Spain is 1.5 million km2, equivalent to three times the national territory.
The 21 centers coordinated the rescue, assistance, or search for 12,338 people (37 per day) in the 5264 maritime emergencies served in Spain during 2010.
In 2009, 5028 Salvage participated in emergencies with 14,729 people involved.
Most of the response to health emergencies in 2010 was related to Salvage, in particular 3864 action, another 580 with maritime safety, 329 with additional services (transfer of organs, hospital evacuation, etc) and 491 related interventions environmental protection.
Vessels involved
The total number of vessels involved amounted to 3,474 compared to 3,499 in 2009.
Regarding the type of ships, recreational staged 1,785 cases
614 fishing vessels and merchant vessels 508.
The remaining 645 cases were related to other ships or floating structures.
In proceedings relating to illegal immigration, maritime rescue co-ordinated with 3,117 emergency 221 people involved.
Since 2006, the trend in the number of irregular immigration emergencies and rescued has been downward.
In 2009, 264 were dealt with 5,508 emergency assisted immigrants in 2008 to 9,739 people in 279 emergencies in 2007 to 13,065 in 398 performances and in 2006 to 30,518 in 605 interventions.
Moreover, the total number of vessels controlled by the Maritime Rescue 21 centers have been 358,272, of which up to 192,634 vessels identified as it passes through the Traffic Separation Devices Finisterre, Cabo de Gata and Tarifa and the Canary Islands East and West.
165,638 other ships were monitored in the I / O in Spanish ports.
