This morning the councilman of Social Care, Antonio Calderon, has delivered the toys donated by the council to continue enlarging the mountain that has been created in the courtyard of the Administration Building San Miguel.
Hundreds of balls, dolls, board games, and even bicycles, all unused, will continue to be collected until next Thursday.
With two days to close the campaign, which began last December 13 have already been collected over 1,000 toys to be allocated to children of disadvantaged families in the municipality.
As explained by the council on this occasion to demand l toys has increased over 2009, when associations working with persons at risk of social exclusion applied for about 1100 games, while this year the figure that is expected to reach 1500.
Given the success of the campaign, Antonio Calderón has said that the goal of reaching the 1500 meet and even toys can offer more than one to each child.
Once collected will be packaged to go by taking them to the groups that requested, specifically allocated 22 associations that children ed dependent neighborhoods of Cartagena as Villalba, Los Mateos and Lo Campano from 3 January.
Antonio Calderon has stressed the joint work of the Department of Social Services with the other promoters of the campaign, Youth and Celebrations, and the Local Youth Council and the admirable solidarity of all Cartagena.
The campaign has involved various groups from the clubs of the seniors Cartagena, entities such as C arrefour, Eroski and the English Court, to the City officials and private citizens who have not missed an opportunity to contribute their grain of sand to promote solidarity Christmas.
The councilman of Social Care explained that the toys are intended for children of families who only have the basic resources to survive and can not afford Christmas gifts.
