Environment Councilman of the City of Cartagena, Isaiah Camarzana and the director general of Transport and Ports, Carmen Sandover l, this morning visited the fishing ecopunto installed by the Ministry of Public Works and Regional Planning at the port of Cabo de Palos .
These facilities provide the management of waste generated by the ship s, helping to minimize the environmental impact on the marine environment and port of Cabo de Palos and preserving the coastal landscape of the region.
This ecopunto, also funded by the Ministry of Agriculture and Water, in addition to the four that are being installed at ports of Lo Pagan, Mazarrón, Gilad and San Pedro del Pinatar.
Environment Councilman of the City of Cartagena, Isaiah Camarzana, was pleased by the installation of this ecopunto that will help a c onvivencia respectful relationship between the natural and urban areas and allow users to port areas and recycling disposal products business.
Ecopoints fish are covered and semi-enclosed spaces that classify the waste generated by ships, whether for pleasure or fishing boats.
They can
store up to 5,500 liters of aggressive waste to the marine environment, including waste oils, batteries, paints, solvents, filters, or ferrous materials.
The investment made for installation of these areas amounted to 175,000 euros, an outlay that helps ensure maximum safety to the citizens and the environment, as indicated by the regional responsibility.
PLANS FROM THE CONTAMINATION "N MARINA
The incorporation of these spaces in the port area is one of the objectives of the Plan of Waste Reception and Handling in the seaports that provides measures of protection, respect and maintenance of the marine environment, as explained by the director general of Transport and Ports Carmen Sandoval.
Alongside these actions, the Ministry of Public Works and Planning is underway for each of the ports of the region of Murcia, the approval of the Interior Contingency Plan for Accidental Marine Pollution by establishing a process for protecting the marine environment in case of discharge of pollutants.
The contingency plan sets out measures to prevent and fight against pollution in loading, unloading and handling of hydrocarbons, whether inside the port or at sea.
Carmen Sandoval explained that through this procedure are defined preventive measures to prevent marine pollution, so the port and coastal environment of our region are protected.
