Neither cold nor rain weighed down the minds of the 40 participants who gathered Sunday December 19 in the traditional Christmas Swim across to the port of Cartagena, with departure from Port Royal Staircase at 12:30 pm .
The swimmers, who were at all times assisted by Civil Protection, should cover a distance of 200 meters in the rain and endure the frigid waters these days with temperatures between 10 and 14 degrees.
At the end of the trial, those who were lucky enough to clinch one of the prizes, given the satisfaction of a hot chocolate buns and a commemorative shirt.
The test, which celebrates its sixth edition, is organized by the Carthage Master Swim Club, with the collaboration of the Department of Sports City of Cartagena, Fire and Civil Protection of Cartagena, and the company Mc'Donalds.
The first to reach the goal in both categories (mascuina and female) were Roberto Alcaraz Cartagonova Swimming Club, who finished the course in 2 minutes 20 seconds, and Carmen Castro, who completed the test with just one second apart .
Furthermore, given the traditional trophies oldest participant, Juan José Pérez 77, and the youngest, George Smith of 16 years.
