The Mayor, Pilar Barreiro, received this morning the visit of President of the Spanish Federation of Parkinson, José Luis Molero, who, accompanied by President of the association in Cartagena, Fabian Martinez, has requested the support of the first municipal authority resume proceedings to allow the construction of the National Reference Center for Parkinson of the city.
According to Molero, the mayor has always fought for the implementation of these facilities, a project that was approved in 2003 and should be built since 2006, has been endowed with even budget, money that had to be returned because has not been used in raising the building.
Currently, the Federation is to seek support from those who can act on it to reactivate the possibility of constructing the building and placed in the all the necessary facilities to deal with this disease (laboratories, day care center, etc.).
Recently, the City Council gave indefinitely daycare facilities Cabezo Beaza host the Parkinson Association of Cartagena, as when standing construction of the Reference Centre, possessed only place to develop their activities and had to share a small local Alzheimer's Association.
