Youth Encounter 2010 has brought together young people from different nationalities to discuss the situation of youth unemployment and discuss viable strategies to alleviate it, thus participating in the Public Consultation convened by the Youth Council of Spain.
Young people from Spain, Germany, Italy, Morocco and Latvia, held all day workshops in which they began to test their knowledge about the situation of youth unemployment in the respective countries and their creativity when creating solutions .
These workshops also included policy makers and advisers youth employability experts, who made the decisions jointly with youth.
Participants of the 2010 Youth Meeting discussed the initiatives proposed in the European Youth Conference in Leuven (Belgium) and merged with their own ideas, develop new points of interest in the field of youth unemployment in Europe.
The results obtained in the course of the day was collected in a manual of good practices on youth employment, in which participants will work for three months through the 2010 Youth Encounter blog.
CONCLUSIONS
Among the most significant conclusions to alleviate youth unemployment is the use of information technologies, promoting the role of social networks on the Internet, as well as facilitating access to first job.
The creation of a youth observatory and organs of reflection and debate to be evaluating the actions taken, are another of the most prominent of the young participants.
Other conclusions drawn in the Youth Meeting 2010 are:
-Strengthen counseling, accompanying Continuing publicity campaigns.
-Include in the training curriculum content related to employment guidance, resources, support and advice available, rights and obligations / workers, and the promotion of entrepreneurship, and where you work psychosocial competence to help meet the labor market (self-esteem, security, perseverance, self-confidence, etc.).
-Scholarships and other measures accompanied by the necessary financial resources to facilitate access to the first use of those young people who complete their studies and allows them to perform in a job, learn the business practices and gain experience.
-Recognition of skills and accreditation of competences acquired through non-regulated processes such as informal education.
-Promote flexibility and security (flexicurity) in working conditions, promoting company agreements allowing reduced working hours, teleworking through the use and implementation of ICT adaptation of schedules to allow for reconciliation of work and family life, among other agreements.
"Closer cooperation between government, educational institutions and the business sector, in order to coordinate actions aimed at improving young people's access to the labor market.
-Creation of a youth observatory to monitor the situation and the effectiveness of actions taken to promote access to quality employment.
-Promote the participation of young people themselves and the issues that affect them, have youth advisory bodies before implementing any measure which it is intended to them, and favor areas such as the Youth Encounter own where they can share insights, debates and have direct political players who transfer concerns.
