The Councillors for Infrastructure, and Decentralization Celebrations have started the machinery in the holidays again wear the Christmas lights, despite austerity rules under the current economic crisis.
Are already putting the lights in the city center, focusing the bulk of them in the streets you will pass the Three Kings, on the evening of January 5 and in the surrounding and adjacent streets the Plaza de San Francisco, which will be located on Bethlehem Municipal, whose installation works have also begun.
There will be Christmas lights, but with cuts by the crisis, in the main avenues of the Eixample, districts and councils.
The budget has been an obvious cut, going from 309,000 euros last year, to 232,000 euros.
The solution, as we did last year, has been to prevent the spread of the ornaments, mainly on crosses and significant places of the districts and councils.
Also as an austerity measure lighting will not turn on until Friday, December 17, running only about four hours a night, as requested by the City Council environmental groups.
Also this year, for the first time all the trimmings will be composed of LEDs and low-power devices, anticipating the consitorio in a year to legislation banning the use of other types of ornamental lighting.
