The Mayor, Pilar Barreiro, attend Thursday 25 November at the Europa Nostra Awards 2010, a ceremony chaired Her Majesty Queen Sofia at the Palacio de El Pardo (Madrid) and the first municipal authority comes as vice president first of the Roman Theatre Foundation, a monument which has been awarded this year's awards.
Pilar Barreiro will come accompanied by President of the Autonomous Community Foundation president, Ramón Luis Valcárcel, the second vice president of the Foundation, Carlos Egea, and the director of the Museo del Teatro Romano, Elena Ruiz Valdez.
The project to restore the Roman Theatre in Cartagena won last June in Istanbul, the Grand Prize of the awards granted by the European Union and recognize excellence in conservation, restoration and enhancement of European cultural heritage, after being selected among the 16 finalists vying for the same, with competitors such as the Real Sitio de San Ildefonso (Segovia) and the Church of the Nuns in à ‰ CIJL within Spain.
