The Director General of Transport and Ports Ministry of Public Works and Planning, Carmen Sandoval, accompanied by the councilman of Social Services of the City of Cartagena, Antonio Calderon, delivered last Friday a new vehicle adapted to transport people Disabled Guardianship Association of People with Disabilities (Astus).
The handover took place in downtown Prolam in Los Dolores, whose service will be allocated for the transport of persons dispacitadas, in order to enhance their personal autonomy, relationships with others and knowledge of the environment.
The Ministry of Public Works has funded the purchase of the vehicle with 12,000 euros.
Astus is a nonprofit organization whose primary objective the improvement of quality of life of people with intellectual disabilities and cerebral palsy and their families.
It is an entity that is part of FEAPS-Murcia, the Federation of Organizations for Persons with intellectual disabilities and cerebral palsy that includes 27 states and serves about 3,000 families.
Today, Astus has 35 volunteers serving 470 families, representing the important work being done by this organization on a social level.
