The winning photographs in the twenty-fourth edition of the contest are set up on 22 November (12/11/2010)

Endowed with 17,000 euros, "Railways" is organized by the Spanish Railway Foundation.

Nearly five million visitors can see the exhibition in the main Spanish rail stations in the context of the Open Season Adif.

The photo exhibition for the 24 ° contest "Railways", organized by the Spanish Railway Foundation, has launched today and will remain open until 22 November in Cartagena station owned Infrastructure Manager (ADIF).

Winners in this edition

"Central Station" is the title of the picture won the first prize of 6,000 euros.

He is currently finishing specializing in photography at the School of Fine Arts at the University of the Basque Country.

The second prize of 400 euros each, have been for the photographers: Ramon Santiago Azañón Agüera (Córdoba), Carlos Paredes Bravo (Castellón), Massimo Failutti (Barcelona), Josue Garcia Izarra (Vitoria, Álava), Jose Ramon Moon Ossa (Tarancón, Cuenca), Cristina de Middel (Alicante), Guillem Oliver Ferrero (Valencia); Endika Portillo (Vitoria, Álava), Jose Santos Mingot (Madrid) and José Torres Tabanera (Málaga).

More than 2,000 works submitted

In this issue there have been 1,021 photographers from 24 countries with 2,073 photographs (1,862 individual and 211 series).

For the exhibition have been selected 58 works of 52 authors: 41 individual photographs and 17 series.

Murcia Region 11 photographers have participated.

The jury was made up of Monica Carabias (historian of photography and curator), José María Díaz-Maroto (Curator and Curator of the Collection of Alcobendas), Gregory Murphy (Convenor of the Selection of photographs), Pablos Josean (First 23 ° contest prize), Enrique Sanz (President of the Royal Photographic Society of Madrid), Paco Tortosa (Photographer), Juan Altars (Spanish Railway Foundation), who served as secretary, and Pedro Alonso (Director of Communication and Relations External ADIF).

The exhibition, which will be installed during 2010 in major railway stations, then visit Toledo and Madrid.

According Adif, this exhibition will have been visited by nearly 5 million people during his tour of fifteen Spanish stations.

This tour is done in collaboration with ADIF (Railway Infrastructure Manager) through its Program Open Season.

With this and other actions, Adif demonstrates its desire to bring the railway stations and facilities to society as a space not only transit but also leisure and culture, and from which promotes social and environmental values.

In this regard, the Program Open Season Adif citizens can access the railway stations as open and reference sites for gathering, socializing and enjoyment of cultural content.

Photographic Competition "Caminos de Hierro"

Photographic Competition "Caminos de Hierro" was created in 1986 by the Spanish Railway Foundation to encourage and promote the photographic arts in the environment of the railway through their passengers, stations, trains, roads, tunnels, metros, etc.

Since its inception, this event has reached involving a total of 27,674 photographers, with 63,278 photographs, not only from Spain and other European countries, but also from Africa, America and Asia.

The event supports the new trends in photography and is also committed to involving young photographers through the Young Author Award, created in 1995.

In this edition involved 132 young authors.

This competition has led to the Spanish Railway Foundation National Photography Prize in the category of patron, granted by the Spanish Confederation of Photography.
