The mayor, a mayor Pilar, Pilar Barreiro, received this morning at the Palace Hall, the head of the Fleet Admiral, Juan Carlos Muñoz-Delgado.
This meeting was to celebrate the coast of Cartagena in joint naval maneuvers of the Navy and Sasemar and in which since yesterday is simulated rescue of a submarine.
This, explained Muñoz-Delgado, a submarine rescue exercise extraordinary complexity, which began Monday October 26 and will take approximately one week of work.
What is being done, the admiral reported, is to experience the new technologies available for later testing in a new exercise to be held in 2012.
That is, this exercise you will need an international dimension, since submarines have several different countries, where they tested the experimental techniques led by the Spanish Navy.
The operations center of these works are performed, Muñoz has predicted will take place in the sea where we are currently conducting submarine rescue exercises, off San Pedro del Pinatar.
In addition, the admiral explained that the reason for his visit was also to meet other units, facilities and see the plan of integration of all these, the new structures available to the Navy.
SUB TO THAILAND
Asked by reporters about the sale of a submarine to Thailand, the admiral stressed that this is an issue early to talk about results.
What we are looking at this moment, has reiterated, are options to keep the Spanish Submarine Navy and at the same time, find markets for the company Navantia.
The purpose, stressed Muñoz, is to combine these two options in favor of Spain.
