The president of the College Football San Cristobal del Bohio, Máiquez Alfonso Martinez, died at dawn on Monday by a respiratory arrest at home.
The news has caused deep consternation among family, friends and sports personalities and football players.
Alfonso Máiquez, 55 years old, had eight seasons as president of the club, being the architect of the great work performed by this entity over the past few years, endorsed by the continuous improvement of the sports facility and the large increase in equipment the neighborhood and good work as leader of the board and coaching staff of the entity.
The Department of Sports has moved its condolences to the family and urged all participating clubs of the local youth football league to observe a minute of silence on the first day of league, as well as collaborating in the future tribute through a tournament to be held shortly in the populous neighborhood of San Cristobal in the Hut.
