The president of the Association of attention to people with Down Syndrome (ASID) in Cartagena, Santiago Lopez, manager of the company, Carmen Vargas, today presented the Mayor, Pilar Barreiro, the Independent Living Project for people with this type of disability.
This project, which arises from the growing demand for adult users who need to become independent and cope with daily household tasks, with a grant from the CAM, but, according to James Lee, is insufficient.
Is that you can have a home, hire even where they are going to need partners to develop a training program that teaches them to live as independently as possible, learn to cook, wash, iron, etc.
The first phase of the project is aimed at the 46 users ASID Day Centre, who are already adults, have less and less help from family and need to fend for themselves.
Specifically, the president of the Association stressed that there are a couple of very urgent cases. Although we are aware that we are in crisis, the mayor always has been willing to help and will surely guide us to find support, Lopez says.

ASID President has used his visit to Pilar Barreiro to officially invite the Ninth Gala charity that the Association will be held on 13 November at 21.00 am in the New Botanical Garden.
During the same will be delivered the traditional awards given each year aside and that this time have gone to the School of Marine Corps, the company Decathlon, the pediatric cardiologist and Raúl Sánchez Colegio Virgen del Carmen.
