Councillor for Sports, Alonso Gomez, along with the general director of Sports, Antonio Peñalver, have been responsible for presenting the newly created Federation of Aesthetic Group Gymnastics Region of Murcia, in a ceremony in which they have been accompanied by technicians of the Department of Sports, Eduardo Martínez Francisca Martínez Caro, as well as President of the Union of Sports Federations of the Region, José María López.

With the birth of the federation, which is based in the Central Pavilion Sports Cartagena, Murcia has become a pioneer of the movement at the national federation of a sport that now becomes official.

In this respect, Alonso Gómez has assured that the City Council has supported and will continue to support the sport in which Cartagena is stressing since 2006 was created the Association of Aesthetic Group Gymnastics Region of Murcia with the intention of promoting this new form of gymnastics and facilitate participation in team competitions in the region.

In this regard, we must highlight the organization's Junior World Championships and Senior World Cup in Cartagena in May 2008.

A WOMEN'S SPORTS

Aesthetic group gymnastics emerged in the Nordic countries and is aimed mainly at women between 16 and 30 years.

It consists of a natural gym total body movements and their main objective is to provide a healthy sport.

There is now an International Federation and National Association in process of becoming a federation.

Cartagena City Council approved a project for the promotion and implementation of this activity in their sports program offerings and created, in 2006/07 the Municipal School of Aesthetic Group Gymnastics, which is already operating in five municipal wards and has been the participation of teams in Spain Championships and World Championships and getting the title of Champion of Spain 2009.

This project, which also operated at San Javier, has already been submitted to other municipalities in the region for its upcoming launch.
