The Director General of Trade and Crafts, Julio José Lorenzo, and the councilman of Commerce of the City of Cartagena, Javier Herrero, accompanied by President of the Association of Artisans of the Region of Murcia (CREA), Arcadio Hernandez, inaugurated this morning and Crafts Trade Show of Cartagena, that from today until Tuesday, October 12 will remain open in the Plaza Juan XXIII.
The tour includes 20 artisans booths, three of them in Cartagena, including potters, nativity scenes, cheese makers, glass makers, beekeepers, metalisteros and processors of natural cosmetics, which provide the public with their latest creations.
This action is included in the Plan to Promote Trade communicate autonomously, as highlighted Julio José Lorenzo, and in particular, a sector that has grown in recent times, so that from 2008 to now the number craft registered in the Register of the Autonomous Region has grown by 15 percent.
Currently there are 1,500 artisans in this record, working 159 different jobs, the most prominent potters, Bethlehem and, in Cartagena, the glassmakers.
The exhibition will be open throughout the long weekend, from Friday 8 to Tuesday 12 October at the Plaza Juan XXIII, open from 11:00 to 14:00 hours and 17:00 to 21:00, and is organized by the Association of Artisans of the Region of Murcia (CREA), with the collaboration of the Ministry, through the Directorate General of Trade and Crafts, the City of Cartagena and the Chamber of Commerce.
Besides the shopping, the fair organizers have scheduled a series of parallel activities, so as to make every day participatory workshops in which the public can help the artisans in the preparation of their articles.
So, on Friday there will be one of Gold, on Saturday, Ceramics, Sunday, Recycled Paper, on Monday, Glass Carving, and Tuesday, Binding.
The workshops will be held on schedule from 12 to 14 and from 18 to 20 hours.
